Dust emissions continue to increase on a daily basis making the management of airborne dust particles of critical importance to industries such as mining and construction. Dust not only harms the environment, it also has a devastating impact on world health. NASA estimates that there were nearly three million premature deaths in 2019 alone due to fine particulate matter7.
Although the idea of controlling dust may at first seem like an easy enough fix, it isn’t as simple as one might think. Control of dust is a complex subject and is dependent on geographical location, dust type (wood, mineral etc…), aerodynamic characteristics of the dust, wind, and size of the particulate matter just to name a few variables. There are multiple solutions available that are effective in managing dust. Let’s take a look at some of the most common ones.
